Guy Vowles' Ad-Hoc Longer Saturday Walks
If you are interested in joining any of these events, you are asked to contact the walk leader to tell them you plan to join.
Well, the first walk went off pretty well even if I say so myself! There were seven of us and the pub was good but I did detect that some present (including great to see - Iris) could have managed something a little longer than the 13 miles the walk ended up as. However, we have some really good walks coming up for you to get your teeth or rather walking boots into.
- Sat Aug 14th. Roger will lead a (cut down) version of The Cotswold Challenge I guess about 20 miles, start by Birdlip school on the old road, Map: Exp 179, GR 929 142. 8.00 start to allow for a tea stop in Painswick - otherwise probable picnic but confer with Roger whose email is - roger.swift2317@02.co.uk or telephone him on 01242 241860. Essential you contact him at least 48 hours in advance.
- Sat Aug 21st. Anne will lead you on a (merry and hilly dance) around Stroud. Start 9.00 at car park on Rodborough Common, 2nd car park on south side. Map: Exp 168, GR 851 035. Distance about 16 miles, pub with lots of real ale at Whiteshill or café or picnic. Telephone Anne on 01454 834076 at least 48 hours in advance.
- Sat Aug 11th. No walk organized yet
- Sat Sept 18th. Guy and Phil leading (unfinished business on St Kenelms Way). Pershore to Winchcombe. About 22miles. Meet 08.30 outside Plaisterers Arms, Map: OL45, GR 025 282 for taxi or minibus to Pershore. Park in Gloucester Street. Share car(s) from Cheltenham . Licenced café at Dumbleton or picnic. Late finish (Barry please note!) celebration drink or tea for Anne after. Essential to contact Guy (as above) at least 48 hours in advance.
- Saturday Oct 16th. No walk organized yet.
I have no doubt that we shall soon fill these two vacant days and look forward to seeing you all again before too long.
